Round One… Fight!

April 30, 2012 1 comment

Hi there, how are you doing?

I’m still working hard on doing some videogame music and Capcom (a major Japanese developer) is celebrating the 25th anniversary of their highly popular series Street Fighter. How those two things relate? Well, as a part of the party they will be selecting fan art works (on visuals AND music) to feature all over the products yet to come. Needless to say I’m in. ;)

Street Fighter 25th Anniversary

Count me in, man. -.-

Just did an acoustic guitar version of Zangief’s Theme, an arrangement for a single instrument. Below You can listen to both the original theme and my rehash. I hope you like it, see ya!

Hi there, how are you all doing?

This week I managed to plug a videogame sound software to my PC and make some recordings… All crazy stuff like blips and clicks in a all-way-Japanese mood. -.-

The soft is called Electroplankton (Nintendo DS) and the idea of it is to make the player interact with livin’ beings to generate sounds. You can see some of it in action here…

and listen to my stuff here:

I intend to give it another try this week and eventually gather a full overture to make a complete set.

Hope you like it, see ya!

OCR Remix Finally Ready For Evaluation!

Hi there people, how do you do?

A couple weeks ago I mentioned a remix I was working on to try a submission for a OCRemix file… The guys there are awesome in supporting/encouraging videogame soundtracks works, so I decided to give it a try.

My featured track was taken from one of my favorite RPGs of all time, Chrono Trigger (SNES), and it’s my personal choice for the best battle track in a game ever. :) Take a listen to the original piece before we move to the remix:

I always thought it was a jazzy mood of some sort hidden beneath that track… Maybe it’s the cymbals, I’m not quite sure. lol Anyway that’s my take on it, taking advantage of the Hammond organ for a timbre link to the original arrangement and taking advantage of other jazz instruments (and a nice club reverb lol) to make it sound the way I wanted to.

Enjoy it, and let’s hope OCRemix will accept it!

On Voice Notes…

Hi there, how are you all doing?

A little while ago I talked about a jazzy videogame theme I was working on for an YouTube TV show (here and here), and there was an embarrassing recording of a placeholder idea I did on my own in a rush just not to forget what I was intending to do. lol

Well, just to reiterate the indispensableness (!) of a voice note when you need it at most, I’m here to share another dishonorable recording, this time on a videogame soundtrack idea. :P

Well, being ashamed of a recording is better than regret losing an idea, I guess. :)

See ya next Monday!
