Bleeding Fingers Contest!

February 18, 2014 Leave a comment

Hi there, how have you all been?

Well, it seems Mr. Hanz Zimmer wants us. :) I’m taking part in a contest held by Bleeding Fingers to make a remix on an original theme by the man and just putting the thing together was a good time. :)

Hans Zimmer Wants You

From the first moment I listened to the original piece I imagined the main voice floating over a more acoustic, slow-paced ground… It’s a very beautiful and delicate melody. My take on it was to mess a good deal with the harmony (making it Major to start) and after that developing a more “organic” epicness–if I can put it that way–by recording real percussion.

Here’s the work. I hope you like it, and if you do I would appreciate a vote or “favorite” from you dear visitor. ;)

Hi there, how have you been?

This week I want to share an old rough sketch for an indie game. It was composed based only on some abstract drawings and the idea of shifting icy and fiery environments.

Check the cool drwings (by Louie) and the little piece of music it inspired. :) I hope you like it!

See ya!

Hi there, how have you been?

Just wanted to share another instrumental theme, “Suco de goiaba” (stands for “Guava Juice”). A memento of small, simple happiness. :)

Hi there, how have you been?

These are little assignments I did for a ChucK (music programming language) course at Calarts through Coursera. :) I hope you like it!

Hi there, how have you been?

Another lost piece of music found! This one was composed by influence of the book “Les marins perdus” by the French writer Jean-Claude Izzo. Wonderful read, made me think of a “floating mystery” if I can describe this recording that way. :P

Have a nice week, take care! :D

Orc War March. ~.~

Hi there, how have you all been?

This week I want to share an original Orc War March for an Audio Catch gig. :)

As a comissioned work, I composed this with this description of the Orcs in mind:
“The mentality of an orc is quite simple, it can be summed up in an unrestrained id. Their minds are similar to a 2 year old’s, they simply want what they want and will do whatever they need to do to get it, without considering anyone or anything else and those wants are usually simply food, fighting, and fornication.”

So, no complex melodic lines or rhythm patterns; just plain and staightforward “work” (if we could call their dirty deeds work) song.

I used STRICTLY organic instruments to make this. Everything there really exists and helped me to keep that “real” feeling–even some lack of metronome can do wonders in such case.

The sentence “Mirdautas vras” stands for “It is a good day to kill”. :)

Hackathon Music! :)

Hi there, how have you been?

Well, this weekend I took part of a hackathon (a coding marathon, in my case to make a game) for the first time in my life and I must say it was a terrific experience. Needing to be creative with the clock ticking above your head isn’t that easy for sure, but I’m glad to say we managed to grab a honorable 2nd place! :) Of course, I can’t code that much… -.- But I can make music, so I want to humbly share my work there.

Gotta thank so many influential space-themed soundtracks, from 2001 (Kubrick‘s movie) to these days’ Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)… With a special mention to mr Nathan McCree and his astounding OST for Soul Star (SEGA CD game). :)

I hope you like it, see ya next week. :)
