Bleeding Fingers Contest!

February 18, 2014 Leave a comment

Hi there, how have you all been?

Well, it seems Mr. Hanz Zimmer wants us. :) I’m taking part in a contest held by Bleeding Fingers to make a remix on an original theme by the man and just putting the thing together was a good time. :)

Hans Zimmer Wants You

From the first moment I listened to the original piece I imagined the main voice floating over a more acoustic, slow-paced ground… It’s a very beautiful and delicate melody. My take on it was to mess a good deal with the harmony (making it Major to start) and after that developing a more “organic” epicness–if I can put it that way–by recording real percussion.

Here’s the work. I hope you like it, and if you do I would appreciate a vote or “favorite” from you dear visitor. ;)

Hi there, how have you been?

Just wanted to share another instrumental theme, “Suco de goiaba” (stands for “Guava Juice”). A memento of small, simple happiness. :)

Hi there, how have you been?

Another lost piece of music found! This one was composed by influence of the book “Les marins perdus” by the French writer Jean-Claude Izzo. Wonderful read, made me think of a “floating mystery” if I can describe this recording that way. :P

Have a nice week, take care! :D

Jobim/Gilberto’s Way of Doing Music

Hi there, how have you been?

Lately I’ve been on preparations for a special gig based on Vinícius de Moraes‘ work and that inevitably led me to some Bossa Nova harmony studies.

It can be quite interesting to get into Tom Jobim‘s mind while composing those terrific songs and into João Gilberto‘s as an acoustic guitar player. The first has merged jazz and samba harmonies in unprecedented ways; the second has crafted a particular way of defining rhythm into a single guitar.

This time I want to share the chords progression of Chega de Saudade, a song that starts in minor tone for Vinicius missing his distant girl and then shifts to a Major one when he mulls over her return. A true masters work. I hope you like it! :)

Hi there, how have you all been?

This week I want to share a quick recording on a space-theme idea… I’ve been digging making acoustic takes drenched in late-FXs for some time now, this one isn’t different. :)

(Pick this image because I suddenly recalled I used to love those NASA logos when I was a kid… *-*)

That’s it for now, I hope you like it. See ya!
